How to use Tarot Readings to Intuitively Grow your Business
One of the most important tools I use in my business is Tarot (and Oracle decks).
My husband finds it silly that I spend time every day seeking guidance from a pile of cards with pretty pictures, as he likes to put it. But the thing is, Tarot is much more than that.
Tarot and Oracle cards are tools. Tools that let you interpret and play with energy. With them you can see how the current of your life is flowing and navigate what’s ahead with greater clarity and confidence, giving your decision-making an advantage.
Maybe you’re a Tarot pro, or like my hubby, you’re wondering how a bunch of cards can help you navigate your life, let alone your business. The thing to remember is just like any tool, it’s all about how you use it.
The beauty of divination tools like Tarot and Oracle cards, is they allow you to have a two-way dialogue with the universe. However, keep in mind you don’t need them in order to tap into divine wisdom — aka intuition. You’re more than capable of tapping into magic with your awareness alone. You become a much more conscious creator when you’re aware of and learn to interpret the signs, omens, and synchronicities all around you. The divine (universe, source, your spirit guides, angels, higher self, etc.) is in constant communication with you. But it’s up to you to pay attention and interpret the messages.
Tarot is one way to do so. It is a language which helps us more consciously converse with Spirit. Just as sign language has different hand gestures with different meanings, the language of Tarot is based on a set of symbols that are interpreted in various ways.
…and it’s not enough to just memorize the meanings of these symbols (even though it’s the first step to learning this). The true magic of Tarot is in using your intuition to decipher an accurate interpretation from the cards. The more intuitively you read the cards, the more depth of meaning you can attain.
Everything exists energetically first, before coming into form in the physical. If you’re able to peek at what’s there energetically, you can get a heads up to what might possibly be manifesting in your life or why things already manifested the way they did. Thus, the benefit of Tarot is it gives you a look underneath the surface of things so you can see the bigger picture. It helps you tap into energy and see how everything connects — past, present, and future. This knowledge can help you better align your choices with your highest good.
However, I don’t recommend using Tarot for absolute truths or definite predictions, instead, use it to see possibilities. The future is never set in stone and anything you see is only but one perspective, which is subject to the accuracy of interpretation (and let’s face it, no one is perfect).
Still, there are so many great ways for using Tarot to boost your business. Here are a few I love:
Getting into and Remaining in Flow
Whenever we’re out of alignment life feels harder and heavier as we hit block after block. We’re either too confused or unmotivated to take action, or worse yet, the action we take feels like spinning wheels while going nowhere. In our day-to-day, there are many things which can get us out of alignment, but I find it’s usually because we’re resisting what’s in front of us — we’re swimming against the flow.
Life becomes incredibly magical and effortless when you learn to flow. I’m a strong believer running a business with flow is the most joyful, easiest, and powerful way of reaching your HIGHEST level of success. Instead of working hard to make things happen or trying to force things, the action you take amplifies or seizes the opportunities already there for you. Life starts working with you instead of against you.
Learning to flow means recognizing what cycle you’re in (energy moves in cycles) and making choices that align with that cycle. It’s knowing when to pump the breaks and when to push on the gas pedal — balancing being and doing, rest and work. That’s alignment and it creates flow. But sometimes our mind distracts us from our inner knowing and we can’t see we’re out of alignment or why. A reading can help you receive that insight.
This is especially useful when you’re feeling stagnant and slow, or fear you won’t succeed, or things are moving in a different direction than expected. Like I mentioned before, Tarot allows you to see the bigger picture so you can have a greater understanding of what you’re experiencing. When you can see how things connect (because every aspect of your life affects everything else) or why they may be happening, it’s easier to surrender to the flow of things, let go of resistance, and see the beauty of what’s in front of you.
For example, I recently hit a slow period which had me worried I wouldn’t be able to afford the new house we just bought. You see, this slow period was expected and welcomed, after all the holidays are always my time to rest and go inwards. But once the holidays were over and January was in full swing, I was full of plans and the motivation to get started on them right away. Yet when I went to sit down at my laptop and get to work, nothing came. I couldn’t focus. It felt so hard to get through the things I planned to do.
I was confused because the inspiration and passion were there, but I couldn’t get myself to work. All I wanted to do was lay in bed and binge Netflix. I pulled some cards and it turned out I was out of alignment. My body wasn’t ready to get back into work and was actually asking for more rest. The truth is, I was running on empty integrating all the changes of moving into a new home, creating a new routine, and dreaming up new ways to expand my business. I was still in a receptive cycle and the only reason I felt anxious to start taking action on my plans was a sense of scarcity, the fear I didn’t have enough time to reach my income goals. I decided to slow down and fill up my cup before moving into a more active cycle. That week the only work I did was send an email to my list and post once on social media, which actually led to a new client booking me. It doesn’t stop surprising that as soon as I stop resisting what is, things seem to perfectly fall into place.
Potential questions to ask the cards:
- In what areas of my life am I out of alignment? How can I course-correct?
- How can I open up to more flow?
- What cycle am I in? How can I honor it?
- What would serve my highest good for me to do or focus on right now?
- Why do I feel __________?
Receiving Clarity in your Decision Making
Pretty much for any major decision I’m facing in my business (or simply when I’m unclear) I pull out my cards and ask my spirit team for guidance. Receiving their insights helps me get clearer on what options are available to me and what kind of results they may create. It helps me get out of my head and see things from a higher perspective so I can act accordingly.
Clarity gives you confidence and emotional balance so you feel good about your decisions and actually take the action needed to see them through. I find the most useful spreads for these kinds of questions explore the potential of each option in front of you, helping you make an informed decision. Here’s the spread I usually use:
- Overall what do I need to know about this situation?
- How does choice A serve my highest good?
- How does choice B serve my highest good?
- What’s likely to unfold if I go with A?
- What’s likely to unfold if I go with B?
- Overall guidance
If you have more than two options, then obviously add another column and follow the same line of questioning. This also works great with Yes/No questions where “yes” would be choice A and “no” choice B.
This spread is my go-to for strategic planning, pulling cards for each possible scenario. You can do a spread like this when you’re trying to decide things like:
- When to launch new products, marketing campaigns, events, etc.
- What type of trainings, events, or marketing activities to implement
- Whether or not to invest your time and money in a new opportunity, partnership, course, program, event, etc.
Another way to ask for clarity is to do a simple 3 card spread like this:
- What do I need to know about this situation?
- How do I best navigate this situation? -OR – What would serve my highest good to do?
- What’s likely to unfold?
Sometimes I like to pull a 4th card and ask “What am I not seeing?”.
I do these types of spreads (or just pull how ever many cards feel right until you get a clear answer) in these circumstances:
- Before jumping on a discovery call with a potential client
- When I hit a bump during a project or feel something’s off
- When I’m not sure how to respond to an email/request/social media post
- For weekly and monthly check-ins so I can plan ahead
Tapping into Inspiration, Creative Solutions, and Wisdom
I think Tarot is magical — it helps you tap into deep wisdom and creativity. It reflects back to you what’s already within but you may not have been able to articulate. I love using my decks during a brainstorming session to generate new ideas and fresh perspectives. For example:
- Before creating any type of content (a blog post, livestream, email, social media post, video, etc.)
- Before writing marketing and sales copy
- When I’m planning and brainstorming a new design project
- When I’m creating new offers, trainings, or programs
The cards can help you see things from different angles and thus come up with creative solutions. Not only can you figure out how to navigate your own challenges, but you can also figure out how to help your community with theirs. You can come up with more specific ways to lead them towards new opportunities for success. Questions I like to ask:
- What does my community need from me right now?
- How can I connect with my audience?
- What does my soul want to express right now?
- How can I best serve (Client Name)? What does she need from me?
I hope this blog post gives you a few ideas on using Tarot as a way to intuitively grow your business. I personally think it’s an amazing tool for energetic alignment, clarity, and inspiration. Plus, you don’t have to be an expert to do readings for yourself. If you don’t already have one, pick up a deck and start getting familiar with the guidebook included. Then to dive deeper you can explore websites like BiddyTarot, she has a lot of valuable resources.
I find that reading for yourself can strengthen the connection with your own intuition and inner guidance. But receiving a reading from others is just as beneficial. I love getting readings even though I’m a Tarot reader myself (you can book a reading here). Getting a reading gives you an “outside” perspective — it’s easy for our emotions and mind to cloud our own readings when we’re too attached to a situation or outcome. It can also help validate your thoughts and strengthen your conviction.
If you’re not new to Tarot, I’d love to know your favorite ways of using it for your business and which spreads you’d like to use. Share them in the comments below!
